|  | Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) The root of Mines and Geosciences Bureau dates back during the Spanish regime, when it was then known as the “Inspeccion General de Minas”. Under the Philippine Revolutionary Republic, a Mines Section under the Director of Industry and Agriculture of the Departmento de Fomento was formed by a Presidential Decree of 1898.
Nowdays, the MGB is directly in charge in the administration and disposition of the country’s mineral lands and mineral resources; The MGB, as steward of the country's mineral resources, is committed to the promotion of sustainable mineral resources development, aware of its contribution to national economic growth and countryside community development.
MGB envisions a minerals industry that is not only prosperous but also socially, economically and environmentally sustainable, with broad community and political support while positively and progressively assisting in government’s program on poverty alleviation and contributing to the general economic well being of the nation.
MGB also aims to be the leading geoscience and georesources Bureau serving the public and nation with scientific reliability. | | | Philippine Mine Safety and Environment Association (PMSEA) The Philippine Mine Safety and Environment Association (PMSEA) is an organization of mining companies, quarries, cement plants, suppliers, service contractors, professional organizations and government agencies that advocates a national campaign against occupational safety, health and environmental hazards of mining and its related operations. One of the projects of the association is the Safety Networking Action Program (SNAP) that was launched in September 2003. The SNAP advocates an integral approach to prevention, preparedness and emergency response to natural and man-made emergencies in support to the national government’s disaster and coordination program. The project has been put into action several times during emergencies such as landslides and typhoons.
