Didipio settlers eyeland payment mode

A Mining company in Nueva Vizcaya expects an amicable settlement of its land claims as residents are amenable to a land use compensation scheme.

Seven of the 12 families, who occupy public forest areas in Brgy.Didipio , Nueva Vizcaya, have allowed Australasian Philippines Mining Inc. to use their land, saying the program was a “once-in-a-lifetime” chance to improve their livelihood.

The provincial government and Austalasian Philippines are resolving differences with the five remaining families and expect to settle amicably with them soon.

The company’s land claim called a “surface rights acquisition,” leads to the construction of the mining plant that will give livelihood to the same residents. Those that earlier resolved their claims said the deal, sanctioned by government, was fair.
