MANILA, June 13 (Reuters) - The Philippines’ Berong nickel mine, whose inferred resource is said to be the world’s fourth biggest, has shipped nickel to China equivalent to almost 40 percent of its 2007 export goal of 920,000 tonnes.
Atlas Consolidated Mining and Development Corp. (AT.PS: Quote, Profile , Research), which has a 25.1 percent stake in Berong, said in a statement to the Philippine stock exchange that 350,000 tonnes of nickel have been exported to China so far this year.
Berong Nickel Corp. is the company operating the mine on Palawan island southwest of the capital.
For this year, Atlas said the export target has been set at 920,000 tonnes and not 90,000 tonnes as previously reported.
