Australia’s OceanaGold sees Philippine mining boom

MANILA, Sept 21 (Reuters) - Australian gold miner OceanaGold (OGC.AS: Quote, Profile, Research) expects the Philippines’ mining industry to take off in the next few years as the archipelago’s vast mineral reserves attract more international companies.
Mining investments have been relatively subdued in the Southeast Asian country over the past few years but the president of OceanaGold’s Philippine operations said on Friday that major overseas companies were eyeing its potential.
