Miners dig hard for local welcome in Philippines

DIDIPIO, Philippines, Sept 25 (Reuters) - Mining in the Philippines doesn’t just require hard hats and heavy machinery, it also involves good manners and lots of talking.

Albert Eacott, the safety manager for OceanaGold’s gold and copper project in Didipio valley, around 270 km (168 miles) north of Manila, assiduously waves to workers building an all-weather road en route to the future mine site.
