Oceana Gold rejects Oxfam Philippines mine claim

New Zealand goldminer Oceana Gold says it is considering legal action against Oxfam Australia after the international aid group claimed the miner pressured Filipino villagers to accept a proposed gold and copper mine.
Oxfam Australia yesterday released a report – based on a five-year investigation – claiming Oceana Gold used intimidation and inducements to pressure the villagers into accepting the $A174 million ($NZ203 million)Didipio mine on the island of Luzon.
