Filipino farmers want OceanaGold mine’s water cut off

UST under two years ago the Philippines Government was keen to spread the message that it wanted a slice of the resources boom and it was open for business on the mining front.
Not known for its resources exports, the nation is right on the doorstep of China and one of the best-mineralised nations in the world.
Department of Environment and Natural Resources chief Michael Defensor called mining a “gift from God”.
