Philippines to create “investment defence force” vs rebel attacks

Manila - The Philippines will create an ‘investment defence force’ to guard mining sites, power facilities and other infrastructure against attacks by communist rebels, President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo said Friday.
Arroyo said the investment defence force will act as a ‘protective shield’ to such facilities as electricity transmission lines, mines and telecommunication towers, which have been targets of guerrilla attacks.
