KORONADAL CITY (MindaNews/9 June) — The Catholic church here — including the bishop and 50 priests from the Diocese of Marbel — has again called for a halt in the ongoing exploration activities of mining giant Xstrata Copper in the hinterlands of Tampakan in South Cotabato.
The church’s position was contained in a statement titled “Large Scale Mining is Not Moral, Fair and Just” issued Monday.
