BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya – Some say it’s a twist of fate, others say this should have been done a long time ago as mining firm OceanaGold Philippines’ headquarters in Australia finally ordered the suspension of its multi-billion peso mining project in barangay Didipio, Kasibu town.
After months of squabble with the provincial government over unpaid local taxes due from the firm’s quarrying activities, the foreign mining company, said to be the world’s third largest, has temporarily stopped its operations here.
