China has 8 million tonnes of laterite nickel ore - Toledo

Toledo Mining Corporation said that China’s stockpiles of the raw material rose to more than 8 million tonnes because of weaker demand. China processes the ore, which contains 1% to 3% nickel, into nickel pig iron, which can be used as an alternative raw material for stainless steel. Prices have slumped 31 percent this year 2008.
