BAGUIO CITY, Philippines (UCAN) — Jason Himmayod, who was trapped eight days in a mine, felt weak after doctors pulled from his side the tube that was draining water from his lungs.
Navy divers and fellow miners had rescued him and nine other small-scale miners from a shaft of an abandoned minefield belonging to the private Benguet Mining Corporation. A tunnel collapse during a typhoon on Sept. 22 trapped them.
