Untapped Marinduque copper beckons

I wonder, how would the people of Marinduque react to new moves to clear the way for the resumption of copper-mining operations in their province? I got wind of this juicy tidbit as I was poking around at the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) this week.
While there is yet no official confirmation of such a move, my sources say the DENR has scheduled exploratory talks with the local representatives of the unidentified foreign mining group This means that the DENR is not exactly hostile to the idea. It is keeping an open mind.
