Mining summit for LCEs set in Cebu

Cebu City (14 September) — To have a better understanding on the important role local government units play in the implementation of mining laws, a one-day Stakeholders Forum or Mining Summit for Local Chief Executives (LCEs) is slated in Cebu next week.

Roger de Dios, vice-chair of the Regional Minerals Development Council (RMDC) and officer-in-charge of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR-7) said only Cebu has yet to conduct its own mining forum for LCEs as a similar activity has already been concluded in Bohol, and for Negros Oriental and Siquijor combined.
