P&A’s Let’s Talk Tax - “A gold mine for LGUs”

The clamor from various local government units for set, uniform guidelines to address the issues of proper business tax, fees and charges to be imposed on mining companies has finally been addressed.Last August 20, the Department of Finance, through a Local Finance Circular signed by Secretary Margarito B. Teves, issued the guidelines governing the power of provinces, cities and municipalities to impose local taxes, fees and charges on mining companies, pursuant to the provision of Republic Act No. 7160, otherwise known as the Local Government Code of the Philippines (LGC), and RA 7942, or the Philippine Mining Act of 1995.
