LUCENA CITY, Quezon City, Philippines—The Department of Environment and Natural Resources has imposed eight conditions for the full resumption of quarry operations in Sariaya, Quezon, an official of a regional environmentalist group, said on Tuesday.

Lawyer Sheila de Leon, Tanggol Kalikasan (Nature Defense)-Southern Tagalog chief, said the lifting of the suspension was announced by DENR officials during a meeting held Tuesday morning in nearby Tayabas City that was attended by Quezon Governor Rafael Nantes, non-government organizations, Sariaya local officials and quarry operators.
