Mining investments seen at $1-B in 2011

MANILA, Philippines - The government expects investments in mining projects this year to reach $1 billion, nearly 5% higher than $956 million in 2010, the chief of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) said on Wednesday.

Leo Jasareno, acting director of the bureau, told Reuters in an interview the country’s metallic mineral production was forecast to exceed a 40% growth posted last year.
